UK calls off film premieres after terror attack

In the wake of Manchester bombing, some film premieres have cancelled in London, the UK.

Manchester bombing has cancelled some film premieres scheduled to be held in the UK's capital city of London.

Due to security concerns, film premieres scheduled by US film studio Universal Pictures and Warner Bros as well as series and  film screenings for US entertainment company Netflix were scrapped.

“Following the terrible events in Manchester on Monday night, we have decided to cancel our special screening of Orange is the New Black and GLOW on Tuesday 30th May.  Our thoughts are with all of those affected by this tragedy,” a Netflix spokesperson said.

Sundance London Film Festival is also set to be held with “appropriate security procedures” to be in place.

A spokesperson for the festival said, “The Sundance Film Festival: London will be going ahead from 1-4 June .... As with all of our events, we are thorough in implementing appropriate security procedures.”

The UK’s terror level has been raised from “severe” to “critical” due to the attack last week. The terror attack at Manchester Arena in the UK on Monday night killed scores of people.
